Our Advanced Rider Course is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to stay safe on the road no matter what hazards may be lurking around the corner.
Our experts will teach you the advanced skills and techniques to make your motorcycling adventures even more exhilarating and enjoyable. (And you didn’t think that was possible!)
Better still, it might even lead to lower insurance premiums, which means the course could soon pay for itself.
First, you’ll receive a welcome pack inviting you along to your nearest local IAM RoadSmart group where our friendly team will put you through your paces on the road.
One of our volunteer observers, who hold an accredited Institute of the Motor Industry qualification, will take you out on a number of rides on your own bike, as they follow along on theirs. You can expect to have between six and eight sessions with your observer. Each session will include plenty of time to focus on specific skills such as control, observation, timing, optimum road positioning, ability to deal with unpredictable roads and other road users’ behaviour.
To make your experience even more engaging, you’ll be part of a group of like-minded riders and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to share your experiences and new-found knowledge with them. When you’re ready, you’ll take the Advanced Riding Test.
Once you’ve achieved this highly respected qualification, you’ll become a fully qualified IAM RoadSmart member.
